BEST CONCERT EVER!!
The concert itself was FABULOUS!! From soundcheck to the actual concert, ARMY rocks and I LOVED every moment of it! Guns N Roses is THE BEST!!!!! It was better than anything I could鈥檝e expected!! But the email for soundcheck clearly stated no queuing up prior to the start of the event at 9am, and therefore created lines everywhere with no staff there to help because no one listened. So for the people who listened and came a little bit later, they got a little screwed by being put in a far queue that shouldn鈥檛 have been there in the first place because it was being honored. The wristbands should have been given right before the line split so that it could be fair, and it would have still been done efficiently. The other issue that I had was that the wristbands were given out AFTER they separated the front of the line into three separate lines. That gave some people wristbands ahead of the ones who were in front of those people based on the way the wristband dispensers were zigzagging around.
Odd experience for regular-season college football
The Guns N Roses version of playing in the Rose Bowl features a barrage of commercials on the new video boards, with replays that take too long to cue and amateurish production values. Not much of a college football experience; more like a vintage Clippers game at the Sports Arena. And the patrons are left with a regret of "WHAT did we buy tickets for again?" The game is fine, but the already detached Bruin football nation has to be instructed when to cheer and when to get excited. S'ok -- as long as you had a kid playing in the Pop Warner "game" at halftime that was a placebo for halftime entertainment. As for the marching band, it's missing. SC games are far more corporate but truer to the spirit. Wait; I almost forgot the fantastic fireworks show following the game. THAT'S why we first-time customers were willing to ante up $100 and more for it. The experience also features piping in a too-loud soundtrack of tunes belonging in cheapo clubs on Valley Boulevard.
